TEENAGE KICKS
MOUSE
2026 / 120 min / color
The latest film from co-directors Kelly O’Sullivan and Alex Thompson follows best friends Callie and Minnie as they navigate their final year of high school in the summer of 2002. Callie is a star student; Minnie hangs around in her shadow. Their lives outside the classroom are also worlds apart. Callie lives under the watchful eye of her caring mother Helen, in an elegant home in a wealthy area, whereas Minnie lives in a cluttered apartment in a more modest neighborhood with her mother, Barbara – a veterinarian who never turns away an animal in need, but can’t get her own chaotic life together. Then a pivotal event leaves Minnie feeling unmoored — she struggles to manage her difficult new reality. Grappling with a need to find her own identity, she begins to distance herself from her mother, forming an increasingly complex and intense bond with Helen. Mouse is a tender and empathetic drama about loss, grief, and the growing pains of adolescence. With compelling performances from Katherine Mallen Kupferer and Sophie Okonedo, the film masterfully explores the shifting, intricate dynamics of female relationships.
