A lavish wedding reception is about to start in the banquet hall of an elegant hotel. Everything is ready, just waiting for the newlyweds to arrive. Except at the very last moment the bride and groom decide to break it off. At first the two families — completely different in almost every way, from their background to their taste and their pocketbooks — are totally shocked. Their blank expressions don’t bother the invited guests, who jump right in and get the party started. But the real show is happening in a back room of the hotel, where the parents of the would-be couple throw around blame and accusations about who’s responsible for the situation. There’s no holding back, nothing is off-limits, and all sorts of embarrassing facts about the various family members start coming to light. Jakub Michalczuk's debut feature is a brilliantly written comedy, bitter as a wedding vodka, showing how sometimes it only takes a spark to start a blazing fire. Written in four voices, The In-Laws is a showcase for great acting, featuring Maja Ostaszewska, Marcin Dorociński, Izabela Kuna and Adam Woronowicz in the leading roles.
