Richard Boca (played by Beau Knapp) is quite the eccentric. He’s a mathematical genius whose talent powers the Wall Street machine, and he spends his days alone in his flat overlooking Central Park, staring at complex strings of data. At one point he notices some disturbing anomalies in the algorithm, which seem to indicate an impending financial crash. Totally absorbed in his work, Richard rarely goes out, but when the opportunity of a company party arises it completely changes his life. Not only because of a mysterious woman named Lena, but also because of a certain intrusive insect. Filip Jan Rymsza's feature debut could be described as a biological horror film, reminiscent of David Cronenberg's The Fly and Darren Aronofsky's Pi, and it conjures a claustrophobic atmosphere similar to the work of Franz Kafka. This original and highly sensual vision of the world on the brink of a major crisis is as fascinating as it is disturbing, challenging us think more intently about the future.
