Lamb

Lamb is set on a lonely sheep farm in Iceland run by a silent couple, María and Ingvar. Their quiet, work-driven lives change when an unusual creature is born on the farm. As events unfold, the sheep will cease to be silent and people's animal instincts will awaken. In the twilight of white nights, amongst rugged hills wrapped in fog, the boundaries between the civilized and the savage get blurred. The mysterious creature begs a universal question: ultimately, whose mother is nature? One of last year's most original films is a surprising combination of horror film and dark fairy-tale, set in a location where it’s impossible to distinguish day from night, good from evil, and human from animal. An award-winner at the Cannes Film Festival, Valdimar Jóhannsson's debut feature tells a contemporary story about the dark side of motherhood, mourning, and the savagery that lies dormant even in the most peaceful heart. The lead role is played by Noomi Rapace, whose career has taken off in recent times. After many years, Rapace returns to the country where she grew up, delivering one of the most interesting performances in her rich filmography.
