At first glance Kamil (Jacek Beler) and Iwona (Sonia Bohosiewicz) don’t have much in common. Iwona is a bored and highly frustrated housewife, using a credit card to live in luxury. Kamil is 32 years old and has a sexy girlfriend named Anecia, but still hasn’t moved out of his mother’s place. He lives in a block of generic flats, working random jobs and dreaming of a career as a rapper. At first his relationship with Iwona doesn’t seem very significant, but eventually it allows them both to see their life choices in a new light. Aleksandra Terpińska's debut feature is an adaptation of the widely-publicized novel by Dorota Masłowska, who was also heavily involved in making the film. Other People is a mesmerizing story about the desperate search for love. It’s also a story about growing frustration, trying to find a creative outlet in times of broken relationships, chronic debt, boxed meals, cheap wine and the incessant buzz of social media. An accurate and often hilarious dissection of today's Poland, set to the rhythm of a rap beat.
