The debut feature by Selman Nacar is a social-issues drama that takes place in the 24 hours between the two titular dawns. A worker is severely injured at a textile factory because of a lack of proper safety measures, and the family-owned business could face severe legal consequences. Kadir (Mǖcahit Kocak) a young, idealistic man who’s about to take control of the firm, has to face a tough moral dilemma. On the one hand, he has to fulfill his professional duties and save the family’s source of income. But on the other hand the repercussions of the accident turn out to be much more serious that the family had expected. Caught in the middle, Kadir will have to decide what to do and whose interest to protect. Nacar positions the audience as voyeurs into the unfolding events, as the dependencies between the central character and the people around him become increasingly entangled. Personal and business tensions inevitably develop, shining a light on painful class and economic divisions in modern Turkish society.
