The life of 15-year-old Klara, right on the threshold of adulthood, revolves around a small circle of friends. The future seems bright and promising, but suddenly everything changes. Unexpectedly, a series of questions arise that are difficult to answer. What really happened on that wet Monday last year? Who was the masked man who hurt Klara? How can she find meaning and joy in life again after those events? Looking for support and understanding, Klara turns to a new friend who’s different from any other teenager in town. The young protagonists have to face deeply buried trauma in order to find hope and a new beginning. Justyna Mytnik’s debut feature, in addition to its poignant story, features compelling performances by young actresses Julia Polaczek and Nel Kaczmarek. Wet Monday is a story full of symbolism about the difficult transition into adulthood, sisterhood and solidarity in the shadow of trauma — told from a female perspective. A new and interesting voice in Polish cinema.
