MAIN DRAMATIC COMPETITION “MAKING WAY”
INVISIBLES
2025 / 94 min / color
Elizabeth is a burlesque performer and sex worker determined to close the book on her current profession. But before she steps away she decides to take on one last client—a man with a disability who has never experienced intimacy. Their surprising encounter does more than just challenge her perceptions; it opens her eyes to a world of people who are often treated as invisible. Through this intimate, transformative journey, Elizabeth confronts her own prejudices and embarks on a path toward deeper self-discovery. In her debut feature, Montreal-born director Junna Chif explores themes typically considered taboo, addressing sexuality and disability with profound respect. This sensitive approach is mirrored in the lead performance by Nadia Essadiqi, who infuses Elizabeth with remarkable depth and subtlety. The Invisibles is a poignant meditation on stigmatization, the weight of societal judgment, and the universal need for understanding and acceptance of every individual’s needs and choices.
