The students in the Acting Department find out that their graduation film will be directed by the famous director Gajda. The news is breathtaking, and everyone wants to be in the cast. The director appears sporadically but leaves the students a camera so they can record improvised scenes on their own. The scenes deal with themes of jealousy and rivalry, and are based on canonical stories: Cain and Abel, Balladyna and Alina. Based on these videos, Gajda will decide who will play the main characters. Rehearsals begin, and we learn about the students’ personalities, their dreams and ambitions. Varying levels of acting talent, differences in worldviews, jealousies, and complex emotional relationships all come to the surface. Our attention is drawn to four characters for whom professional rivalry is difficult to separate from their private lives. The boundaries between fiction and reality begin to blur. The young protagonists are playing a game for their dream role, but it turns into a fight where everything they have is at stake. Fools is the seventh feature-length diploma film from the Acting Department of the Łódź Film School (PWSFTviT), and also the directorial debut of popular actress, playwright, and screenwriter Gabriela Muskała.
