French director Morgan Simon puts two characters at the center of his film. 52-year-old single mother Nicole and her teenage son Serge live in a small public housing flat in the suburbs of Paris. There isn’t much room for privacy and freedom, but they do their best to nurture their relationship despite the many challenges. A problem arises when Nicole starts feeling financial pressure just before Christmas. This hidden issue has a strong impact on the bond between mother and son, and causes them to drift apart. Nicole goes through the most challenging period of her life, and it ends up changing her forever as a mother and a woman. Simon’s dramedy is a touching story about love, family and the attempt to find oneself even in the most difficult situations. It’s built around two magnetic performances by the acclaimed actress and director Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, who has French-Italian roots, and Félix Lefebvre, who is at the beginning of his career.
