This witty and delightfully eccentric mockumentary follows Lady Isabella, a 40-something aristocrat brought to life with humor and warmth by Sian Clifford (Fleabag). When Isabella invites Sam, an insecure young filmmaker with big ambitions, to her splendid country estate, she asks him to document her life, the mansion, and a local children’s talent show, Stately Stars, of which she is both patron and aspiring participant. As Sam and his crew record Isabella’s hysterical attempts at artistic self-expression, it becomes clear that her efforts conceal a deeper need to be seen. Ageing and no longer defined by the roles of mother, wife or lover, Isabella begins to feel herself becoming invisible – quite literally. Samuel Abrahams’ debut feature, which premiered in the First Feature Competition at Tallinn Black Nights, is a sharp, playful exploration of the sense of identity and visibility in mature women, blending magical realism with incisive humour.
