Tonina is a strong and resourceful woman who has taken responsibility for her family’s needs for many years, often without being asked. Managing both everyday matters and major obligations, she’s become indispensable, if quietly overbearing. But the burden of responsibility leads to a sense of entitlement when she unilaterally decides to purchase a share of her mother’s vacation home on a picturesque Croatian island, neglecting to inform her sister despite their prior agreement to buy it jointly. This leads to an escalating family conflict, rife with tension and heated arguments. In his debut feature, which premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, Igor Jelinović offers a penetrating study of family dynamics. The film explores themes of inheritance, duty and resentment with dry humor and great subtlety, revealing how quickly affection can sour when matters of property and entitlement come into play.
