Brahim, a 30-year-old man, comes from a deeply conservative community. The traditional values of his family have prevented him from being honest about who he is for way too long, although some of his relatives have their suspicions. He decides to speak openly about his sexual orientation, finally letting go of the emotional burden of hiding, on his beloved mother's birthday. But nothing goes according to plan; surreptitious looks from his relatives and the tense atmosphere at the event make it difficult for him to share something so important. Brahim realizes that once again he won’t be able to speak up to his family. Feeling resigned, he leaves the party to think the whole matter over on his own. As he wanders around the neighborhood at night, he’s confronted by a group of angry men looking for a confrontation. Belgian director Nabil Ben Yadir's film is based on a true story, a shocking tale of the dark side of human nature and what stoking the flames of homophobia can lead to. This one's not for the faint of heart.
