Itonje Søimer Guttormsen's debut film is a hilarious satire on the contemporary art world, a story about an artist's determination to stay independent to the point of ignoring all common sense. Gritt is a young artist with lofty ideals, played with great conviction by Brigitte Larsen. Totally disillusioned with the direction in which Western art is heading, she plans to produce a deeply committed theatrical performance, The White Inflammation. To do so she needs funding, which requires at least some kind of blueprint, but she can't quite put into words what she wants to achieve, and compromise is simply out of the question. She’s nothing like her colleagues who "work things out" with their patrons, because the one thing she can never accept is to have her creative edge dulled. She feels completely misunderstood as she experiences a series of rejections, which only adds to her bitterness. The deepening chaos that swirls around her is brilliantly conveyed in the look of the film. In the end, rebellion always has its price.
