The feature debut from French director Vincent Maël Cardona is the story of two brothers and the independent radio station they started in the early 80s with a familiar-sounding name: Radio Warszawa. Philippe (Thimotée Robart) and Jérôme (Joseph Olivennes) live in a small town in Brittany, working in their father’s garage. The older brother, Jérôme, is dating Marianne (Marie Colomb); his younger brother Philippe has a secret crush on her. Marianne, who recently moved from Paris, increasingly wonders whether she’s starting to have feelings for Philippe. Despite his best efforts to get out of it, Philippe has to go to Berlin for a year to do his compulsory military service. Cardona creates a vivid world, full of youthful passion and the music of the era – songs by Iggy Pop and the Stooges, Joy Division and The Sonics are featured on the movie’s vibrant soundtrack. Although the main characters are brothers, they’re completely different from each other, except for having feelings for the same girl. This complex love triangle somehow fuels the radio station, which develops at the heart of the characters’ actions, dreams, and aspirations.
