Baptiste and Jérémy, the protagonists of Manoel Dupont’s debut feature, meet pretty much by chance. They quickly find out they have a lot in common – they’re both trying to improve their appearance and feel better about themselves. They decide to go to Istanbul together to get hair transplants — as a remedy for their receding hairlines as well as their low self-esteem. Their shared journey is an intimate experience that brings them closer in unexpected ways and shows them new ways of being in the world. In a quasi-documentary, often poetic yet humorous way, Dupont tackles themes of intimacy between men, brutal standards of beauty and the passing of time. Portrayed against a backdrop of the vivid and pulsating Turkish metropolis, the two men discover something far more meaningful than a mere hair loss remedy.
