Lemberg, 1897. Amelia Krzyżewska-Zeh returns to her family home with a plan to open a pharmacy for women. But it soon becomes clear that her husband, Tomasz, is harboring sinister intentions for her. Hiding behind a caring mask, he gradually reveals his controlling nature, isolating Amelia and systematically administering medication that causes her health to rapidly deteriorate. The house where she was raised, once a sanctuary, becomes a gilded prison. Haunted by strange visions and the presence of two peculiar servants, Amelia begins to question her own sanity and perception of reality. When Tomasz officially declares her insane, she uncovers a terrifying conspiracy: she’s the victim of a premeditated plot to seize her father’s valuable invention. To survive, Amelia must reclaim her strength and outwit those who seek to destroy her. In this suspenseful film, director Irina Gromozda masterfully dresses up a crime story in the striking aesthetics of the late 19th century, deeming historical accuracy as crucial to the experience as the narrative itself.
